Mary Ellen Mitchell

Founder and CEO of Housing Frederick

Mary Ellen Mitchell is the founder and CEO of Housing Frederick.  She has worked in the nonprofit community in Frederick for 25 years. She is also the founder of Allow Me Consulting, which offers nonprofit management consulting and grant writing. She teaches courses on grant writing, event planning, marketing for groups such as Frederick Community College, Maryland Association of Librarians, Federated Charities and the Grant Seekers Resource Center.

Mitchell is a charter member and current chair of the Frederick Coalition for Financial Success. She served on the Transition Team for County Executive Jessica Fitzwater with the Housing and Quality of Life committee. She is a member of the Frederick County Building Industry Association and the Frederick County Association of Realtors. She is a graduate of Leadership Frederick County.  

When she is not championing a cause, she enjoys reading, water coloring,  travelling, thrifting and spending time with her 5 grandchildren and their parents.

Mary Ellen Mitchell participated in the 2024 Nonprofit Summit as a breakout session presenter. Her breakout room topics were: Grant Writing Wizardry and Event Planning 101.
